Her story

The doctor she couldn’t find.

Dr. Alexis “Lexi” Gonzales lives with endometriosis. She needed care that was root-cause, evidence-driven, and genuinely attentive, and it didn’t exist in the rooms she sat in. So she went to the lab first, then to medicine, and became that doctor.

Dr. Alexis Gonzales, ND, MS, IFMCP

Bench, then bedside.

She studied biochemistry at Saint Mary’s, worked in a peptide lab at PolyPeptide Group, and took a master’s in biotechnology at Johns Hopkins before Bastyr made her a naturopathic doctor. She then completed a two-year functional medicine primary care residency as the inaugural resident at both Vida Integrated Health and the Institute for Functional Medicine, and went on to build IFM’s curriculum as a Clinical Content Developer.

She grew up in a Filipino family with a birthday tradition of pancit: long, uncut noodles for a long life. It named The Long Noodle, and it is a fair summary of her work: an unbroken line from the science to the person.
